the OC enduro - what's up with that?

The Otway Challenge enduro is a cross-country mountain bike event which takes place within 6 hours on a 10 km course. The object?  Complete the most laps within the 6 hours. You can compete in either a solo category or as part of a relay team.

PLEASE NOTE: Start time has been changed for the 6hr mtb bike race.

categories

  • Solo male and solo female
  • Teams of 2: female, male or co-ed
  • Teams of 3 and 4: female, male or co-ed compete in the same category

how it all works

  • Riders have a total time of 6.5 hrs to complete as many laps as possible.
  • New laps can be started until the 6 hr mark, but must be completed before the 6.5 hr cut-off  to get credit.
  • All riders on a single team must complete at least one lap, but any sequence is acceptable (ie. a stronger rider can do more laps, etc.).
  • In the event of a tie in the number of laps between teams, the fastest total time for all completed laps wins.
  • All riders must be self-sufficient--there's no on-course race support for bike repairs.

At the OC, there's no race support for bike repairs; however, there are course marshals on trail. If you can't finish a lap due to a bike breakdown, a marshal will notify start officials to cancel your lap and tell your teammate to start.
This info was graciously provided by the Pedal by the Puddle organizers.  Ride in Williams Lake--there's great mtn. biking there!

keeping it clean

The majority of the course is single track because that's what we  love to ride! Unfortunately, this can make passing difficult. If you’re the faster rider, let folks know (politely!) you want to get by, but wait for a wide spot. If you're slower, pull over asap.

FYI: This isn't the World Cup, people — enduro events are meant to be fun for everyone!
